What is Karma and How Does it Work with Conscious Creation?

Karma Schmarma!

I've heard Abraham refer to blaming Karma for our lives, as "Karma Kop-Out," and this fits for me! When we look for external scapegoats to blame our misfortunes upon, we do ourselves a grave injustice. We miss invaluable opportunities to grow, to become aware of our internal vibration and to change the source of our misfortunes by changing our thoughts - the actual internal cause of the misfortune.

We are attracting into our lives in the moment, in the NOW. There is not some unfinished business that is going to come around, and smack us upside the head on some sunny day when we least expect it because we were naughty in a past life. To clarify, Karma is NOT pre-destined, immutable, or unstoppable. Our Free Will at any given moment in time can (and does) change our Karma, sometimes for the positive and sometimes for the negative.

However, I also understand that there are and will continue to be times in my life when I miss these opportunities, and at some unknown future moment my Karma could catch up to me, giving me another opportunity to change the tide. Like an echo that is heard even after we stop speaking, Karma can be returned when we stay in the same spot (vibration), and don't enact a change.

In a situation of a victim turning on a rapist, for example, the Karma was completed within both the victim's vibration as well as the rapist's vibration in that struggle. However, each effect (the attack and the defense) had in its pre-formed state an energetic cause (the internal vibration/thoughts/beliefs/attractors.) This cause can (and probably does) still linger beyond the action of the rape or the defense of the rape. Therefore, the future Karma could be the brewing of yet another attack, or yet another opportunity to attract a violation, or another opportunity to clean up the vibration of victim, defender, fighter, and resistor.

This smoldering vibration, of brewing imminent misfortune, however, is only a possibility for us to experience if we are living unconsciously in this moment. In each moment, we have the ability to make a decision. This decision becomes our vibration, and from this conscious state we instantly create our next experience and our Karma.

Let's break this down a bit:

Karma, in the ancient Sanskrit language, means "action."

Put Karma into perspective by thinking of Newton 's third Law of Motion, which says that "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."

Therefore, Karma is but the action caused by an equal and opposite reaction.

Now think of Newton 's First Law of Motion, which says, "An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force."

Our decision to be "safe or unsafe" in this moment is the action of a balanced or unbalanced force, depending on our previous vibration of safe or unsafe. If we have always held a belief that we are "Divinely Protected" then a decision to feel or believe that we are unsafe in this moment, could be just the unbalanced force required to change our Karma (in a negative way). This reaction (in the now) creates the Karmic action.

I want to give you an example of how we unconsciously enact our Karma, even when our intent is to be conscious all the time.

In my relationship, I may choose today to be kind to my honey; however, yesterday I was nagging at him (in a rather frustrated, irritated kind of way) for not separating the clothes before washing.

"There are six categories of laundry: whites, lights, reds, darks, towels and baby clothes. I do appreciate you doing the laundry, but Parker doesn't want pink underwear, Ashlyn's can't be washed in our soap, and I don't want my black pants covered in towel fuzz-balls! So, either do the laundry right, or don't bother doing it at all!"

Now, I have to be honest here and say that I've had this conversation before, and each time no matter what I say the clothes are separated in their appropriate piles for a couple of weeks until one day he "forgets" and there goes the laundry etiquette right out the window. Yes, you can probably tell from my typing tone that I have some "manifesting-loving-forgiving" to do here.

Karma will come back around and continue to show me my present vibration until I clean it up. My reaction will continue to create an equal and opposite reaction, until I make a new decision and put forth a new reaction. So, yes, "reaping what we sow" is Karma, and we can change our harvest in this moment!

In short, I have to make peace with what is, so that my vibration is pure. Then I have to CHOOSE and DECIDE that "I now experience laundry that is perfectly maintained, beautifully cared for, and lasts an appropriately long amount of time!"

This might end up looking like he quits doing laundry all together - as my sister keeps warning me about when she says, "You need to be grateful that he does it at all" (and I know she's right!) or he feels inspired to do the laundry according to my laundry rules of order!

My dear friend and spiritual consultant, Alicia Moreno said,

"You just have to do the Karma Burn!"

"What does that mean?"

"It means that the more you love the more you burn off "bad" Karma. So, loving is the key to creating loving Karma!"

And obviously, for me, a honey that does the laundry correctly!
